ENGINEERING JOB VACANCIES IN THE UNITED KINGDOM

The engineering job market for professionals in the United Kingdom is quite fertile at present. Between major government projects to expand infrastructure as well as private attempts to move into a larger share of their market, engineering firms are bringing in millions of pounds a year in new projects. New projects and clients require top notch engineering graduates to fill junior engineer positions, which allows for greater movement upward of experienced engineers. Not all engineering positions are created alike, however, and several engineering jobs are ideal for those interested in general engineering jobs. Civil engineering positions are important in the general market today. Civil engineer professionals work on projects which collaborate government agency and private organization efforts to create solid engineering projects. These projects, ranging from storefront projects to the improvement of commonly travelled roadways to meet commercial needs, require massive amounts of manpower and money that need to be invested wisely. The exceptional civil engineering candidate can find a great position in the field and the constant need for civil projects means it is a steady point of entry for graduates. THE BEST WAY TO FIND ENGINEERING JOBS

Engineering generally involves the application of scientific principles for practical uses. The quintessential examples of engineering are the pulley, lever and the wheel. These simple principles have had far reaching impact on our lives and this is the role that engineering plays in our lives - it makes things easier. Engineering incorporates an extremely broad variety of disciplines. If you are looking for a career in engineering then it is important to recognise that there are a number of different branches to engineering and picking the right area at an early stage of education will help you focus your study. Engineering was originally divided into two sections, military engineering and civil engineering. Military engineering dealt with the improvement of military items such as weapons and fortifications. Civil engineering focussed on things such as bridges and buildings. The different varieties of engineering include, Aerospace Engineering Aerospace Engineering is concerned with the design of aircraft and spacecraft and the related areas in this field of study. This branch of engineering was initially known as aeronautical engineering and focussed solely on craft that stayed within the Earth's atmosphere. The main problems that craft face these days are the high levels of atmospheric pressure that ... [more..]

A BRIEF HISTORY OF ENGINEERING

In ye olde days, 1325 AD to be more precise, an engineer was defined as "a constructor of military engines". Back then engineering was divided into two categories: Military Engineering and Civil Engineering. The former involved the construction of fortifications and military engines, the latter concerned non-military projects, for example bridge building. This definition is now obsolete, as engineering has broadened to include a myriad of disciplines. The exact origin of the word 'engineering' comes from the era when humans applied themselves to skilful inventions. Man evolving further in the world invented devices such as the pulley, the wheel and levers. The word engineer has its root in the word engine, which comes from the Latin word ingenium, which means "innate quality particularly of mental power". And thus the word engineer emerged as a person who creates nifty and practical inventions. Today an engineer is described as someone who has acquired and is applying their scientific and technical knowledge to designing, analysing and building useful, helpful and functional works. This would involve structures, machines and apparatus, manufacturing processes as well as forecasting their behaviour in particular environmental conditions. This is all accomplished with functionality, operational economics and safety to life and ... [more..]
