AIR FORCE FLIGHT ENGINEER CAREER FIELD

I want to cross train out of my current AFSC. Flight engineering is 1 of my options. Would you recommend this to someone who is married? Also how long is the tech school, and to what degree of difficulty is it? I'm a former Guidance and control troop, and I am presently an Avionic back shop instructor at Sheppard, so I have a strong avionics background. The AMC way of life is vastly different than AETC. The AMC life centers on deployments. GAC goes just as much as everyone else. If you have a strong marriage and a good relationship with your wife, you can survive anything the military throws at you. My wife and I have been married 20 years. I was flying when we met and that is the only way she's known me. She has stuck with me through lengthy separations and shorter ones.Realize that the job of the flight engineer is to refuel aircraft, move cargo, etc. It is a job that centers on TDYs. Although, since 9/11 I've deployed more than gone TDY and staying in a hotel is now a treat instead of a desert brown tent. Again, you have to weight the benefits of ... [more..]

MOTIVATE YOURSELF BY PLANNING TO SHOCK THE BULLIES AND CRITICS

Hopefully you have not been bullied or intimidated or criticised by any one.As a self-defence instructor, I find that some of my students have been humiliated by a bully and start taking classes to make sure that the situation is not repeated. At least one student became so confident through training that others came to her for protection. Over twenty of my students have survived violent attacks and several have flattened their attackers. The thought of shocking the people who have mocked or underestimated you is a powerful motivator. It has been used to motivate people to buy a solution by advertisers for generations. You may remember the famous line in an effective advertisement: "They laughed when I sat down to play the piano." The thought of people laughing at you is a powerful motivator. We all want to see the laughter turn to looks of admiration and are happy to spend good money on lessons to make sure we win respect instead of ridicule. The older generation, including me, remember the bully who kicked sand in the face of the man on the beach and went off with his girl. The weakling buys a body building course by Charles Atlas and returns to ... [more..]

BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO OPTIONS – PART 4 – WHY SELL A CALL OPTION?

IntroductionLet's listen in on a continuing conversation between two friends about options. In this installment, one friend is trying to explain to the other why somebody would sell a call option. The ConversationJH: I'm mostly clear now on the motivations of a call option buyer. Can you explain about option sellers? Why would anybody want to sell a call option?PE: The main reason is for income. When you own stock, but the market is drifting around aimlessly, you can sell call options against the stock that you own. The premium that you receive, from the buyer of the option, can really help to boost your return.JH: I think I need an example.PE: Of course. Let's use our ongoing example stock, currently trading at $130. Our investor owns 100 shares of this stock, and she bought it a few years ago for $85 per share. The market is flat. The current premium for the $130 call option, which expires in 24 days is $3.03. If the investor was willing to sell her shares for $130, she could sell one contract of the $130 call. She would immediately receive $303 from the call option buyer. That represents a 3.5% return on her original ... [more..]

INTRODUCTION TO MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

There are many professions that make our lives easy that we don't really think about. Mechanical engineering is definitely one - a profession with which society would not even exist as it does now.As with any other trade, there are many different types of engineering. What is mechanical engineering comprised of? Well, the people that study this discipline apply basic physic principles to design, manufacturing, and maintenance of various mechanical systems. In short, these people help to create robots, machines, automobiles, aircrafts, ventilation systems, watercraft, industrial equipment, medical equipment, and military equipment (among many other things). Why is this sort of trade important? You might say that without the people that study this sort of engineering, the world may suddenly come to a very abrupt halt (quite literally). Without these people, certain machines would not exist - let alone function. Many of the trades people that learn about this discipline often help to solve various industrial and governmental problems - in short, these people are really irreplaceable. You may think that a form of machine or robot could easily take the place of a person in this field, but this cannot happen. Why? In order for a machine or robot to function, ... [more..]
