GENETIC ENGINEERING – THE TECHNOLOGY OF 21ST CENTURY

Genetic engineering today is no longer a new term for the world. Every day in the newspapers, televisions, magazines the new inventions of genetic engineering are noticed. Genetic engineering may be described as the practice that manipulates organism's genes in order to produce a desired outcome. Other techniques that fall under this category are: recombinant DNA technology, genetic modification (GM) and gene splicing.HISTORYThe roots of genetic engineering are connected to the ancient times. The Bible also throws some light on genetic engineering where selective breeding has been mentioned. Modern genetic engineering began in 1973 when Herbert Boyer and Stanley Cohen used enzymes to cut a bacteria plasmid and inserted another strand of DNA in the gap created. Both bits of DNA were taken from the same type of bacteria. This step became the milestone in the history of genetic engineering. Recently in 1990, a young child with an extremely poor immune system received genetic therapy in which some of her white blood cells were genetically manipulated and re-introduced into her bloodstream so that her immune system may work properly.PROMISEGenetic engineers hope that with enough knowledge and experimentation, it will be possible in the future to create "made-to-order" organisms. This will ... [more..]

SOFTWARE – ENGINEERING ASSOCIATES

The engineering associates can make a world of difference to any business you run. When you run a successful business attending to every aspect of your business personally is nearly impossible. So where does that leave you? Of course you will need help but if you think manual help can do the job for you think again. Things which requires days if done manually may easily be done within minutes using software. And if you choose the old way out you will not know what hit you before you loose out on your business. And simply because you did not think ahead your competitors might have got abreast of you using simple technological solutions. Want to learn where you can find those technological solutions; this article will get you some insight on how software can make the running your business easy. After the advent of computer lots of business transactions have become much easier and much more systematic. And I am sure you already know that it is the software installed in the computer that is making this revolutionary change in the running of a business. THE BASIC OF CIVIL ENGINEERING JOBS

When it comes to civil engineering jobs, the first thing you need to do is consider the field you want to enter. There are many different sub-disciplines, however, the main aspect of getting any solid civil engineering jobs is that you have the appropriate experience and education.Typically, a college degree is necessary even to enter the field at an entry level position. A bachelor's degree in mathematics, science, or engineering is almost always required. You will then need to gather the necessary work experience to become a licensed civil engineer. Four years is the minimum work experience requirement for licensing, as well as the requirement of taking an exam. The best way to get this experience is to work as an apprentice of a licensed and experienced civil engineer. You then have to understand just what it takes to be a civil engineer. You need to make sure that you meet the standards of an engineer. For example, you we need to possess the ability to be detailed and organized at all times. You must have analytical skills, be curious, as well as creative. You have to be able to lead people, manage people and projects at the same time, as ... [more..]

UTILIZATION OF STRUCTURAL DESIGN IN STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING

Structural design is one of the most important parts in structural engineering. Structural engineering is used in large number of industrial areas. These areas include construction of residential buildings, dams, shop designing etc. Here structural design plays a vital role to accomplish these tasks effortlessly. It can be identified as a process used for construction of buildings or other structures. In this process, "engineering mechanics" is used so that these structures can resist load. Structural design mainly focuses on giving them maximum stability. Now when the structural design gets completed, one will have a feasible solution in the form of a secure and economic designed structure.Structural design needs great amount of planning and concentration. Structural/Civil engineers deeply observe the situation and make a strategy in order to make structures strong enough to withstand loads and other external forces. They plan it according to engineering mechanics and give these structures strong integrity and safety. Some of the main areas of concern are:o Stability against loads/external forces o Reliability/Safety o Strength/Potential.In structural engineering, structural design is responsible for building's support. It takes care of building parts like:o Beams o Walls o Columns, Floors etc. Then it simply calculates how to maximize the strength of a building structure by utilizing available ... [more..]
